§ 98-200. Maximum speed limit.

  • (a)

    No person shall operate or drive any motor vehicle on any public street within the city at a greater speed than 30 miles per hour, unless a different speed has been established for a given area by this Code.

    (b)

    The following speed limits have been established:

    (1)

    Ladue Road, 35 miles per hour between Lindbergh Boulevard and Price Road.

    (2)

    Ladue Road, 30 miles per hour between South McKnight Road and Price Road (except when children are present, the speed is reduced to 25 miles per hour).

    (3)

    Ladue Road, 30 miles per hour east of McKnight Road within the city limits of Ladue.

    (4)

    Clayton Road: 35 miles per hour between the eastern city limits and the western city limits, except it is 30 miles per hour between Conway Road and South Forty Drive.

    The speed limit is further reduced on Clayton Road to 25 miles per hour between 50 feet east of the pedestrian beacon located approximately 260 feet east of Conway Road and 50 feet west of the pedestrian beacon located at Magnolia Drive when those beacons are flashing.

    (5)

    North McKnight Road, 20 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (6)

    Hunter Avenue, 20 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (7)

    Conway Road, 30 miles per hour between Warson Road and Clayton Road, (except when children are present, the speed is reduced to 25 miles per hour).

    (8)

    Conway Road, 30 miles per hour between Warson Road and Lindbergh Boulevard.

    (9)

    South 40 Road, 40 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (10)

    Highway 40/I-64, 60 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (11)

    Interstate Highway 170, 60 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (12)

    North Rock Hill Road, 20 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (13)

    Gilbert Avenue, 20 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (14)

    Magnolia Drive, 20 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (15)

    Midpark Drive, 20 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (16)

    Waverton Drive, 20 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (17)

    S. McKnight Road, 30 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (18)

    Meadow Acres Lane, 25 miles per hour within the city limits of Ladue.

    (c)

    Notwithstanding the establishment of the speed limits stated in subsection (b) of this section, the director of public works and/or the state department of transportation may temporarily post lower speed limits within the city limits where construction, maintenance, or other roadwork is temporarily occurring.
