§ 2-192. Duties regarding moneys or property of city; executing orders; preserving good order.

  • (a)

    It shall be the duty of the chief of police to account for and pay over to the city treasurer, at the end of each month, all moneys or other property belonging to the city, which he may have collected or which shall, in any other manner, have come into his possession, unless other disposition thereof shall have been provided by law, ordinance or resolution of the council. It shall also be his duty to execute all orders and processes arising under the provisions of this Code. He shall be active and vigilant in the preservation of good order within the city. He shall, at all times, perform all such other duties as the council may from time to time, by ordinance or resolution, require.

    (b)

    The chief of police shall perform all duties required of the marshal by the statutes and laws of the state, and such other duties as are required of the chief of police by the city's ordinance.
